Using Joystick as WASD - mixing diagonals?

How do I rebind the joystick so that when I push a diagonal direction, it mixes the two adjacent keys? IE: when I push up-left it'll do what its normally bound to both up and left (in my case, W and A)

Not sure. May be a good idea in include what joystick you are working with.

Does remind me of when I played Quake (I,II,III) and used a analog joystick (sidewinder 3D) for it. That annoyed many opponents in rocket areas where they had a hard time leading the shots right since my speed was not fixed, nor my direction of travel limited to only 8.
