Basilisk v3 X Hyperspeed Eating Through Batteries

I’ve had this mouse for probably almost a year, and a couple months ago it started eating through batteries. I have to replace them every week or two. The only advice I can find on this is to try updating the firmware and reinstalling drivers. Which makes sense.

Except Razer doesn’t seem to have software for it at all.

The firmware page lists Basilisk V3 Hyperspeed, and Basilisk X Hyperspeed, but neither of those works. Because I don’t have a mouse called either of those names. I have a V3 X, not a V3 or an X. It’s clearly not the same thing, or one of those updaters should have worked.

I did see there’s a thread about this problem from a year ago, but Razer staff seems to have completely ignored it, so let’s try again. A lot of us would like an answer.

Hi Dovewithscales,

I understand you're experiencing rapid battery drainage with your Razer Basilisk V3 X HyperSpeed. To isolate the issue, please try to replace the batteries with new ones and test the mouse with a different PC using the new set of batteries. If the issue is still present on another PC, it might indicate a problem with the mouse itself.

If you need further assistance, please PM me your device serial number and proof of purchase so I can verify its warranty. Save the shareable files via any online drive account listed here.  Also, help me gather more details:

  • Are all brands or types of batteries draining quickly, or is it specific to certain ones?
  • What are the current mouse power settings, including wireless power-saving and power mode duration?
  • What mouse mat, DPI, and polling rate settings are you using?
  • What is the range between your mouse and the dongle? Are there any obstructions, such as items beside the dongle?
  • Do you turn off the mouse when not in use? If not, roughly how long is the idle time for the mouse?
