No love for left-handed gamers....Cobra Pro coulda been a contender!

As a Razer fan, and regular user of the Viper Ultimate (I have two, and have had several Razer ambidextrous mice over the years),  I have been patiently waiting for the perfect business / travel / gaming mouse, and the new Cobra Pro looks almost perfect.

Except, it’s buttoned for right-handed users only.  :-(    I’m not necessarily after the absolute, lightest-weight mouse on the market….but buttons on both sides (Viper Ultimate - check, Cobra Pro - Nope), Bluetooth support (VU - Nope, Cobra Pro - Check), Chroma RGB (VU, sort of, Cobra Pro - Check).

Now, one could argue that Bluetooth is unnecessary on a gaming mouse, and yeah, you’d be right.  But I travel extensively for work, and I use my Blade 15 as both my work laptop, and as my hotel room entertainment.  Weirdly, I tend to use my mouse right-handed for work, and left-handed for gaming (naturally I’m left-handed).   This is also why I like Bluetooth, as I don’t have to keep the dongle in my laptop where it gets bounced around in my briefcase, or going through airport security several times a week, etc.  Keeping the dongle in the mouse and just using Bluetooth in customer meetings is a much “cleaner” setup.   I have two Razer Atheris that are great travel mice, EXCEPT that they are right-handed only.

What do we need to do in order to get some love for the lefties out there?

Like you, I was going to buy the Cobra Pro right away as it is my exact fit with Hyperpolling with my PC and Bluetooth for work on my Mac. And the buttons next to the mouse wheel are perfect vs a Viper Ultimate.

What was my surprise when I realised it’s ronly right-handed!

If I understand correctly, the last very light mouse for left-handed users is the Viper Ultimate, launched in 2019.

Can you please share when you plan to launch a new lightweight mouse suitable for all?

As near as I can tell from their store, they given up almost entirely on lefties. According to their own store, there are “ten” models that are either left-handed or ergonomic. Combing color variations, this is actually six models. Of those six, three have no buttons on the right-side at all.

That leaves three models with buttons on the right-side: The Viper Ultimate (v1), the Viper 8KHz, and the left-handed Naga. That’s the totality of them: One model wireless mouse (2019), one model wired version of essentially the same mouse (2021), and one wired model mmo mouse (2020).

I stopped using Logitech for pulling this exact same crap. Looks like I’ll be leaving Razer for the same reason after my current v1 Viper dies.
