No symmetrical 9-button mice on the market any longer | Razer Insider

All mice will have at least three buttons: left, right and middle; beyond that I need two on the left, two on the right and two on the top, for a total of 9. The last mouse to have this was the Lancehead, but that’s discontinued. Why is there not a single currently-manufactured Razer mouse that has this symmetrical 9-button profile?

There is no upgrade path for Lachesis → Taipan → Lancehead users. Are there plans to fix this?

No, all new mouses are even faux-symmetrical (while having symmetrical case, but the side buttons are only on left side).

On RazerCon 2024 they’ve announced refreshed Boomslang, but I doubt it’ll have more buttons.

If Razer won’t release another with two on the top and two on the right, I’ll just have to keep pursuing aftermarket Lanceheads. That mouse is perfect, IMO, except for the fact that the wheel encoder breaks down after about a year (typically exhibiting scroll jitter).

Scroll is not a problem, you’ll buy TTC Gold dustproof scroll encoder - resolder and problem solved.

Appreciate the tip, but I don’t think re-soldering an encoder at home is as trivial as you make it out to be.

Do you have any specific tips or a guide or anything on how to do the soldering? I am seriously considering it.

No, but there are a lot of fantastic guides on YT for example.
