Question

Razer Pro Click Bluetooth issue

deARKYzator

Razer Pro click refuses to go into pairing mode / cannot be detected by any devices to perform a pair.

Currently:
It is impossible to pair it with another new device or previously used device.
There is no option hard reset the mouse.
Firmware has been updated and is up to date as of today.
Flashing previous firmware does not fix the issue or reset the mouse.

One of my laptops can connect to the mouse, the behavior is really strange.
Upon turning on the mouse - it does not connect.
After holding the pairing/switch button for 3 seconds, it connects to the laptop instead of going into pairing mode.
Moreover, this happens on all three BT slots, meaning that regardless of which BT slot (blue, green, yellow) I try to enable pairing on, the mouse get connected to the laptop on that slot.
This is cursed  behaviour, especially from a premium product from a premium brand,  that has been on the market for over 4 years.

Some Razer engineer  screwed up big time here, so please provide a firmware update as soon as possible - this is entirely RAZER’s fault and a firmware issue and honestly an embarrassment.

Before that, a way to factory-reset the mouse must be provided - why it isn’t there in the first place is absolutely mind boggling. It’s a common practice since forever for devices to have a factory reset option.
Had it been there and this issue wasn’t reappearing constantly, this wouldn’t be a big issue at all.
Please learn from your mistakes in the future.
(factory-reset meaning to wipe all bluetooth settings, no the so-called “RESET” in Synapse 3.0 that is some kind of a joke that doesn’t actually reset anything)

Update:
I took the mouse apart and disconnected the battery in hopes of this inducing a reset, but to no avail.
(Thanks a lot for putting the screws under the rubber sliders, terrible design)
The mouse right now is effectively only working wirelessly only as via the 2.4Ghz dongle, meaning the big appeal of easy switching between multiple devices and comfortable use while traveling is gone.
All it took was trying to replace a paired device for everything to fail - this wasn’t tested internally at all.
At least there’s a space for the dongle inside the mouse, which makes this situation better than hopeless.

It truly is an gigantic embarrassment for Razer, for both screwing up something so elementary as BT connectivity AND also making it impossible for users to reset their devices.
It would appear that there are no longer any talented engineers and programmers at Razer.

To add salt to injury there are tens of threads addressing similar BT issues with Pro Click and Pro Click Mini on the forums, some as old as TWO YEARS and they are without a single answer from any technician or support person.

I doubt this will ever be taken care of.
Shame on you Razer, for effectively scamming your customers and ruining otherwise a very fine mouse.
Mistakes and issues happen, but not addressing them is inexcusable.
And shame on me for trusting you.

Hi deARKYzator,

Has anyone contacted you, and were you able to resolve the Bluetooth issue? I've been experiencing the same problem for the past 4-5 days. I even tried rolling back to the previous firmware, but unfortunately, the setup wizard said a newer version was installed and didn’t proceed with any changes.

I disconnected the battery for 24 hours and then reconnected it, but without success. No matter how long I press the button on any of the three channels, nothing happens, and the mouse doesn’t enter pairing mode.

Hi van_rea,

I typed a very long and detailed responce, but this garbage forum didn’t post it and deleted it, so sorry, but I won’t bother anymore.
Heres’ a short version:

  • Razer does not give a single excrement about us and probably never will
  • Do not bother with synapse, firmware updates and razer troubleshooting steps - waste of time (maybe unless new firmware is released)
  • On every device you’ve ever paired your mouse to and on every profile of the mouse, try the following:
    - Try simultaneously holding the button on the mouse and manually clicking connect on the bluetooth devices list.

The only way I found to temporarily resolve the issue (because it reappears in span of days) is to connect my mouse to my old acer nitro laptop with linux installed on it (using the method above). Upon connecting, I can put my mouse into pairing mode, pair a set of new devices and it works like a charm.

Mind you this is extremly cosmic-level cursed device behaviour and i’ve never seen anything like that before.

Then after some time and out of nowhere, I turn on the mouse and all profiles start flashing like in pairing mode and mouse does not connect to any devies nor can be detected again. And the only devices that can connect to it is the laptop.

Good luck, though we are most likely cooked (courtesy of Razer).

I’ve been having the same issue. Pro click won’t pair, is not discoverable on my laptop. I bought this mouse because of it’s ability to connect via bluetooth, to allow the free USB space on my laptop. Now I have to use the dongle. I’ve tried everything I could find on the internet and here, but no solution.

Hey Razer, you’ve dropped the ball and left us all hanging. You don’t ever respond to anyone who inquires on this forum. Very poor form! Support?? I don’t think so! I won’t ever buy another one of your products! BYE!

To anyone out there, if you're planning to buy pro Click, buy Logitech MX series instead.

Yeah they don't have a space for the dongle and have scroll issues, but at least it can be fixed and bluetooth, i.e probably why you bought the mouse

Just. Works.

I think it's time someone from Razer paid attention!
It's not a private incident, it happens to many people!
The easiest thing would be to allow the firmware to be flashed even though it's the same version at the moment. In my opinion, this will reset the software in the mouse itself and the problem will be solved. I don't think it's that difficult to remove one condition and recompile the exe.

Well… I have the same issue BT blinks like crazy but cannot connect to any device. Beside that my model has problem with coating - it peals off. After 2-years it looks and works like ass. I think Razer do not give a  second thought about this Pro. Lick series. They removed it from their catalog and the last firmware update for Pro Click is from 2021… this is how  they react for problematic products.

Worst part is, even if you did some research before buying, without going here you couldn't have know about this. I never seen this issue mentioned elsewhere than here and maybe reddit. No youtube review mentioned this sadly.

I guess the takeaway here is to aways hit up forums and reddit to search for common and less common issues.

I somehow stumbled upon the Logitech MX 3 scrolling issue and therefore avoided it, but looking back i'd rather have a working bluetooth and fix the wheel myself. Instead I'm stuck with a bluetooth mouse that doesn't bluetooth and proprietary firmware.

Also that once razer, never razer again apparently.

Same here. I remember convincing myself to buy this mouse for the price it got as it will be a lasting quality product.

Now I’m here with the mouse. BT not working. Rubber comming down from the side, coating from the top.

Thank you Razer.

I have found a solution to this issue, as long as you have an Android phone. If you still have an available color slot for pairing (for example, maybe your blue Bluetooth slot can no longer pair, but the yellow one can still enter pairing mode by long-pressing), you can use this method.

Simply put the yellow slot into pairing mode, then connect the mouse to your Android phone via Bluetooth. After that, just disconnect it, and you will find that both the blue and yellow slots have been restored to normal.

The inspiration for this came from a post on the Razer forum, where someone mentioned that their mouse suddenly started working again after being connected to a Linux computer. So I tried connecting the mouse to an Android device, and to my surprise, it worked as well.

This is undoubtedly a firmware bug from Razer, yet they have left it unfixed for years.
