Just purchased Razer Phone 2 and got it yesterday, however the fingerprint under Security was missing in Android 8.0 even after upgraded to Android Pie 9.0.

I have been factory reset multiple times, but still no go.

Any fix on this?

Yup. Exactly.

Hmm... very strange. Could be defective? Maybe a driver issue? I dunno. Especially if factory resets aren't fixing it.



From what I can gather, seems other phones have experienced this issue, too. Some have been able to fix it by accessing a hardware control/diagnostic tool... though, I'm not sure how to access that on the Razer Phone, though.
I have been reaching out to Razer support, however, they don't seem to have encounter such issue before, as if I was the first victim for Razer Phone 2.

That's quite saddening for a brand new phone. :frown_:

Sorry to hear you're having issues with the FP scanner 😞 I've passed on the thread to the CS team so they can help you out.



In the meantime could you try something (and I know this will sound weird but it worked for my RP1 when I had it happen on it and it hasn't happened again since) can you get a cloth and rub the scanner with a little bit of pressure back and forth while pressing it and see if it comes back?

Is it not there completely or only theme bugs that not showing it? Did you try also search it from search tab on setting by typing fingerprint?

Hi @Joikansai , apparently it's been missing since I first setup the phone at Android 8.0, and the option even missing after upgraded to Android Pie 9.0.
I’m noob at Android but did you also turn off security pattern, completely no screen lock at all like shown on this forum?
@Joikansai Tried that as Razer support suggested, but did not work.

Wish there's a way for hardware assessment to test FP functionality.

This is honestly the first I've seen with this issue and from the looks of it, you've already gone through quite a lot of troubleshooting. I'm afraid the only thing left to do is to send the unit in. Is this right out of the box? Please send me a PM with the serial number of your Razer Phone 2 along with the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far. I'll take it from there.
