Hi guys.
I’m new here & looking to purchase some Razer Kiyo .
Anybody have some experience with Ryzer on Linux ?
I'm specifically curious to learn whether or not that Kiyo (& other products) has firmware supported via LVFS (or any Linux native means) ?

many thanks, L.

I’m using Ubuntu 24.04 with a Razer Kiyo Pro and it has not been a great experience. When it comes to firmware updates I have to switch to Windows. I don’t think Razer supports firmware updates in Linux. Not that I can tell anyway.

As for the camera operation under Linux. After a recent update to the firmware I can’t get 60 fps. Not only that the camera freezes occasionally under Linux and Windows. The specifications claim HDR capability but I haven’t seen any 10bit pixel formats in V4L2. HDR doesn’t work on Linux.

I wouldn’t recommend this camera.

I just went to the LVFS website and did a search for ‘Razer’. There were no results. That probably indicates that Razer hasn’t signed up to host firmware.

Thanks @ztransform - solid answers/feedback are the best.

I had my hopes for Razer quietly high - thought Razer perhaps are not some generic garbage only mass producing waste but a company, among a few, who are serious about their business.

I was going to give the Kiyo a bash - blindfolded - but now I do not have to. Thanks!
