Hello folks,
Since I haven't found a program lately, which gives me an ambient effect on my Razer Ornate Chroma, I simply wrote a program myself.

Function:

  • Maps your screen to your Razer mouse, keyboard and mousepad to create an "ambient effect"
  • You can change the saturation
  • Only ca. 3-5% CPU load!

Settings can be found by right-clicking the program icon in your notification area on your task bar.

Note:
A Windows Smart Screen message may appear during installation. This tells you that my program is not signed by a certification authority recognized by Microsoft. Because these certifications cost a lot of money, which I cannot afford as a student, my program is not signed.

The software (as of 2.1.1) works wonders on my RBS 12.5 (2016) ! I've been looking for working stuff for a long time!

For another RBS owners, although keyboard is 15 keys long, if you set its resolution to 16, then the very right buttons like enter, shift and so on will light aswell.

yeah they added it in the recent update.. wasn't really expecting that. but now it gives a better reason to get HDK

There's a default Ambient option in Synapse now that works with the HDK kit.

Probably the best update so far.. been thinking between razer nommo chroma or logitech g560 speaker (due to it's ambient lighting).. with this I might just go for razer HDK + nommo chroma

There's a default Ambient option in Synapse now that works with the HDK kit.

I just downloaded the newest version (2.0.2) and when I try to launch the program it only shows the icon shortly in the toolbar and then disappears again. Is this something you know how to fix?

Can you update to Version 2.0.3 and try it again? If that does not work please send the log file located in C:\\Users\\yourusername\\AppData\\Roaming\\RazerAmbilight\\Logs

I thank you all for using my software. I've been sitting down lately to fix one of the mainproblems with the software, the rather high CPU load.

Now I am proud to present version 2.0 to you. I've completely reworked the code and now I'm counting on getting the screen shots directly from the memory of the GPU. So the software now consumes only about 3-5% CPU load!

Actually the program should have asked you to update. If not, you can download version 2 here

But be careful, due to the code revision bugs may have crept in very well, which still have to be fixed over time. So far it runs without any problems for me.

Forget my last post. After several installs and uninstalls, checking everything, trying everything, I finally got it to work.(at least 4 times) I feel this is more of a Synapse problem than anything else. Keep up the good work man!

Please try to reinstall Synapse once, this might solve the problem.

reinstalled both synapse and ambilight and now I can't even get ambilight to open anymore.

I can't seem to get this to work. I have Synapse open and Chroma apps ticked as well as ambilight and nothing. Is there something I'm missing?

Please update to version 1.6.5 and try again. If the error consists, please upload the log file located in C:\\Users\\yourusername\\AppData\\Roaming\\RazerAmbilight\\Logs

The same seems to apply to the Razer Goliathus, for which there seems to be no implementation in the SDK.

no implementation for goliathus? seems that way cause all razer chroma games dont use goliathus in their profile...anyway huge thanks for this

I've looked into it further, but I'm sorry to disappoint you. Currently there is no way for me to control the HDK with the Colore Chroma SDK wrapper in C#. So there is no way for me to control the HDK with code.

The same seems to apply to the Razer Goliathus, for which there seems to be no implementation in the SDK.

You can right click the icon in the notification area on the taskbar and select "change tickrate". You can then manually modify the rate, at which the effect should be updated. A higher update rate means less cpu load.

In theory, you're right. If you take it exactly the term Ambilight is not suitable for my program. However, the effect is what I wanted it to be. If you like I could try to implement a real Ambilight mode. ^^

HELL YEAH !! I would like it ! If you can implement that, it will be the perfect ambilight app ! :P
