Razer Cortex In-Game Settings In-Game FPS on-screen overlay not working

I’ve tried in two games, Ninja Gaiden 4 & CoD: MW III, the regular overlay was working but not the component info overlay (FPS). I’m having no problem with the recommended alternative, NVIDIA, but would like to use Razer Cortex’s feature. I was able to get into the overlay and get through to see settings, etc. but the overlay preview that should show as customized does not appear before/after the games are launched. I understand the game is supposed to be launched first, but just to clarify. I’ve tried a few things like disabling the NVIDIA feature and Windows Game Mode, so on so forth, I’m having no luck though.
