Hey everyone
THIS IS MY FIRST POST SO I WANTED TO MAKE IT A GOOD 1
I've been thinking a lot lately about the future of MMORPGs, especially with all the crazy advancements we're seeing in tech. One feature that's been bouncing around in my head is the idea of introducing ultra-rare, incredibly powerful techniques or abilities into the game that only a very limited number of players could ever obtain.
Think of it almost like NFTs, but directly integrated into gameplay. Imagine skills or spells that are so unique and game-changing that maybe only 10, 50, or 100 players on the entire server could ever learn them. These wouldn't just be slightly stronger versions of existing skills; they'd be completely distinct, offering unique strategic advantages or playstyles.
Now, here's the key part: I think the opportunity to discover these skills should be open to any player, not just those at the top of the leaderboards. While some might be tied to incredibly difficult challenges that reward skill, imagine other possibilities:
- Hidden Discoveries: Maybe some of these techniques are hidden within the game world itself, waiting to be found by an observant explorer. Perhaps they are tied to obscure lore, require solving ancient riddles, or are located in secret areas that anyone could potentially stumble upon.
- Rare Encounters: Imagine a very low chance for certain enemies, even common ones, to drop a scroll or item that teaches one of these unique abilities. This would mean that even a new player could theoretically get lucky and find one!
- Community Driven Opportunities: Perhaps rare server-wide events could occur that offer a limited number of these skills as rewards to participants, regardless of their level or rank.
- Unexpected Rewards: Maybe there's a very rare chance to receive one of these techniques as a reward for completing even a simple daily quest or through a random in-game lottery.
But here's where it gets even more interesting: What if, after a player masters one of these incredibly rare techniques, they gained the ability to teach a much weaker, less potent version of it to other players?
Imagine a master swordsman who discovers a legendary sword art that allows them to execute lightning-fast strikes. While only they can perform the full version, they could potentially mentor a few promising students, teaching them a simplified form of the technique that's still powerful but not on the same level as the original.
This would create a fantastic dynamic where those who have obtained these rare skills become valuable assets to the community. It would foster mentorship, create player-driven progression paths, and further enhance the legendary status of those who hold the original, powerful abilities. The "student" version could have limitations – fewer uses, lower damage, longer cooldowns, etc. – to ensure the original skill remains uniquely powerful.
What do you all think about this mentorship aspect? Would the ability to teach a weaker version of a rare skill add an even richer layer of community and progression to this idea? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
