7.1 not showing up

I bought a new set of Razer headphones - the Speakers (7.1 Surround Sound) appears as a sound device, but then I'm not able to select it in the 7.1 surround sound app. I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything, to no avail. Is this a known issue? I see lots of other people complaining about it, hoping it can be resolved quickly. Thanks in advance.
