i have a pair of razer kraken kitty headphones, quartz. theyre not very new, im sure there are new versions of these headphones released by now, but i cant afford new ones, so i really hope the answer isnt “get a new pair”

for over a year now, i have had the worst and honestly kind of painful audio bug. upon starting any app, if it makes sound, there will be at least 1-2 seconds of deafeningly loud audio, and then it returns to normal/to what i actually have my audio set to. this applies to literally any app that will make noise: games, windows alerts/sounds, browsers, media players/radio apps, etc.

something of note: the audio bars in volume mixer do not move when this occurs. it is solely seemingly my headphones. my samsung soundbar does not exhibit this behavior at all - all audio functions as intended on my soundbar.

additionally: if the the app is firefox (or any other browser), then every new tab that has audio within it will make the same issue occur. if the website open in the browser is something like youtube/apple music/spotify etc (any media playing site), every new video or song will do the same, regardless of if the song/playlists was in a new tab or the same tab as one that already exhibited the issue. playlists are also affected by this, every song in the playlist will burst my ear for a second to two at the start of the song and then return to the volume i had it at, for every single song.

a similar issue that im not sure is from the same bug or is it’s own whole problem: specifically, “classic webkinz” audio persists through my headphones despite being fully muted in windows settings, and additionally suffers from the same bug listed above (as in: on top of the anti-mute issue i just stated, it also deafens me for 1-2 seconds with a blast of sound, and it happens on every single sound that happens in webkinz, which happens about every 2 minutes). the sound doesn’t get through my soundbar if I swap to that, or either of my monitor speakers. the new game, “webkinz next” also doesn’t suffer from this anti-mute issue, nor does anything else for that matter. just webkinz classic.

so i guess tl;dr: my razer kraken kitty headphones will with anything that makes sound blast my ears for 1-2 seconds and then return to the volume i had set, and it only happens with my headphones.
also, webkinz classic evades my muted setting in windows, and again only happens with these headphones, and is the only game or application it happens with.

also the change from earsplitting to normal audio is not gradual, it is immediate and stark
