Barracuda X headset 1-2 months old, build quality and cracked. Warranty? | Razer Insider

Hi all,

I just wanted to check if anyone else had this problem with their Barracuda X Headset.

My headset was purchased on the 8th of March and delivered on the 15th. My available time to use the headset has been fairly limited due to the work hours I do so I haven’t gotten much use out of it.

Sound quality is great and from what I can tell the charge last an absolute age. Hardly needs recharged.

However I noticed when I first got the headset that some of the components look like they’ve been superglued together or repaired, even though it was sold new and sealed from the Razer Store on Amazon. I’ve also just now noticed while putting the headset on today that the small white rectangular bracket on the headband, above the left earphone cover has a massive crack in it from top to bottom. After doing a little diggin online I’ve discovered that this is quite common with the headset and was wondering if it was some sort of manufacturing fault with the part? Does anyone else have experience of this fault and how was it resolved in the end? Does the registered warranty cover this damage to a fault component?

I live on my own, have no kids and no pets. So I know the headset hasn’t ever been dropped or slammed in anyway. Like I said, I’ve not had much time to use it in the last month.

Would this sort of headset damage or quality issues be covered under the Razer warranty that I registered when I got the headset on the 15th of March ‘23? Any help of examples of past experiences with the issue would be super helpful.

I ordered my Barracuda Pro RZ04 from amazon on 04/04/23, had the original headset replaced on 07/11/23, and now started another RMA to replace the replacement.

Mine was NIB but just started to fail in little over 3 months at where the ear cup section slides on the headband.  Now the replacement is failing in the same way.  For a $250 headset at the time(on sale for 214 now) the material build quality is horrible.  I had a $50 bluetooth headset that lasted a couple years until the coating on the ear cups started to flake off.

I am also concerned that I have not seen the refund for the advance RMA, effectively paying twice for a failing headset.
