Barracuda X (pre-2022): after firmware update - bad sounding microphone


I have a Razer Barracuda X (pre-2022) and was very happy with the microphone. I've also regularly received positive feedback from friends and strangers about how good the voice sounds. 
Unfortunately, for years I had the problem that while I was charging the headset, the microphone had dropouts in the voice channels (Discord/Teamspeak). 
I also noticed that when I listened to myself, there was a distinct hum when speaking into the microphone while the headset was plugged in. I suspect that Teamspeak and Discord wanted to filter out this noise and that's why sometimes no sound was transmitted at all. 

Whatever. 
I did some research the day before yesterday and discovered that there is a firmware update (1.4) for the headset and installed it immediately without any problems. 

Result:
The problem with charging still exists. In addition, my microphone now sounds significantly worse than before. It now sounds like I'm talking to my friends through an old Nokia 3310 (quote from a friend). 

I really want to go back to the old firmware version. How can I do this? 
Or is there another solution to the problem? 
The main problem now is the miserable sound of the microphone. I don't care about the charging problem now. I just want to sound like I did before.

Make sure that you've got the latest firmware for your specific headset by checking the model number in the undate guide:

I couldn't find a version 1.4 for the Barracuda X. If you post the exact model number that's probably close to the serial number on the label, it would make it easier for people to help you with this.
