Battery Charging issues RBP GTX1060 2017

This started recently which makes me wonder if it's a software update that's causing this. I have a RBP GTX 1060 2017 model. I bought an aftermarket power supply a week after I got this thing after reading that the included one doesn't get the job done. In a couple of years of having this laptop this is the first discharge while plugged in issue that I've had. I'm running several games like Doom Eternal on High, and Star Wars Old Republic on High. When the games are running and I tab out to the desktop to monitor the battery usage while plugged in the battery is draining and the system sees the battery being plugged in then not plugged in over and over. When no games are running this issue is not present. What's causing this?
