bios not updating

Hello everyone. I have Razer Blade 15” Base (2020) RZ09-0328x system. I’m trying to update my BIOS version. When the installation is completed and the system is turned on again, my BIOS version still remains in the old version, so it is not updated. I need help. Thank you.

+++System reboot without loading screen 100%

I have the same exact issue. I downloaded the latest BIOS updater from this website:
Razer Blade 15” Base (2020) BIOS Updater | RZ09-0328x

I followed the steps exactly and the application says that it will update my BIOS from 1.03 to 1.06. The system did a restart automatically but after the system turned on, my BIOS version remained the same (1.03).

Hi guys,

Thanks for reporting the issue with the BIOS update here. Can you PM me the serial number so I can validate its model and kickstart a case for me to escalate your concern to the systems team? Thanks!

I'm also having this issue updating the BIOS. Dependency with the issue not allowing "Core Isolation > Memory Integrity" to "ON".

So this ends up being a serious security problem.

Any fixes?

No updates on this issue?

Plus ➕

I'm having the same issue with reserve 15 Advanced RTX 3080ti UHD 144hz,

I'm hoping to fix the some gaming shuttering

But the bios updates not going through it's just rebooting the system this is unbelievable I never had that same issue with any other brands

Looks like there’s only time and resources to sell new products.

I will move this topic on reddit for more traction.

I had this exact issue with the same PC. This is how I solved it:

  1. Download the BIOS Updater for your model from Razer Support.
  2. Don’t start it yet. We first need to disable “Microsoft Vulnerable Driver Blocklist”.
  3. To do so, go to Windows Security > Device Security (laptop symbol) > Core isolation details under Core Isolation > Turn off Microsoft Vulnerable Driver Blocklist.
  4. Close all applications and windows.
  5. Now, this is what made it work for me, right-click the BIOS Updater we downloaded earlier.
  6. Choose “Run as Administrator” and accept that it can run.
  7. Click UPDATE in the “Blade Updater” and it should work. If not, try again.

Remember to turn on the “Microsoft Vulnerable Driver Blocklist” again and enable core isolation.

I hope this fixed your issue and I wish you a wonderful day.

First time commenting on Razer Insider, because this annoyed the h*** out of me. You would not expect this kind of issues from a laptop in this prize range. Do better, Razer. I expect to receive a nice invoice from wasting my time doing this technical support and looking for help with this issue, which you obviously don’t care to do yourself. You already have my email.

Thank you !

This works. Thank you very much for sharing it.

Now, this is my first and last Razer laptop.

Hi there, I had the same issue yesterday with my blade 16 4090 - I needed to set graphics card to nvidia optimus (not discrete!). That was my last try as a previous updatet forced me to enable discrete graphics only - I was to revert the settings.
Steps I’ve done:

  1. Tried to perfrom BIOS-Update - lead to a normal reboot.
  2. Disabled Bitlocker (it initially said that I need to disable bitlocker - pause bitlocker didn’t worked but may be working as this step didn’t led to the update), So to pause bitlocker should be enough.
  3. Tried to perform BIOS-Update - without success.
  4. Disable Microsoft Vulnerable Driver Blocklist (had to disable memory integrity before and perform reboot before I was able to turn off the Blocklist).
  5. Tried BIOS-Update - without success.
  6. Reverted the graphics-settings back to optimus (no discrete)
  7. Installed BIOS update successfully (FINALLY)
  8. Enabled Blocklist and memory integrity
  9. rebooted system
  10. enabled bitlocker.

So much steps for a simple f***ing bios-update for such an expensive device. Will check for the next updates but if there is no optimization from razer-side this will be my 1st and last razer hardware.

It took me 2 hours (plus bilocker de- and encryption) for this. :(

Hope that will help others with the same problem. Thanks to Siata8 - I never had the idea of the need to disable the blocklist!

I finally found it.

You must turn off Secure Boot through BIOS SETUP and install after Windows starts up.
