Black Widow Elite Keyboard misery

Honestly. I desperately needed a new keyboard so purchased a Black Widow Elite. I am not a gamer, but Razer makes good stuff. I just want it to be one solid color all the time, and I don't want to run Synapse. Sounds easy enough. But no. I have spent two hours trying to figure this out and made no progress. Is Razer really that stupid? Some things I have read say you cannot even save profiles to the Black Widow Elite, which makes it sound more like a doorstop than an elite keyboard. Can anyone tell me how to set a single color to come on and stay on at all times? A million thanks in advance.
