Blackwidow keyboard key chattering
Hello everyone,
Unfortunately my keyboard was also affected by the key chattering issue. Its a 2014 model which I acquired on late 2015 and I have treated it like a child until now. Never spilled a drink, never hit it hard or even allowed dust to cover it. I always use the clear cover that came with the packaging when I am not using it to prevent dust from entering between the keys. I did not use it for 30 days during January and when I plugged it in, all of a sudden random keys started chattering. I did not even know the term "key chattering" until now. So after browsing for a fix, I removed all caps and cleaned the switches with alcohol TWICE, and then I hit each one of them with compressed air. This solved the problem for some of the keys but many still insist.
I am coming to the conclusion that it may be a software update that broke it, or something to do with the controller board, since they all started misbehaving at the same time.
I would like to know if there are any tests I can perform to understand exactly what's broken. Can I downgrade the keyboard's firmware to an older version maybe?
I think that's unacceptable for a keyboard at this price range. I still have keyboards that are more than 20 years old on my shelves, with a much harder life, and they still work with no problems.
