Blade 14 2022 - GPU dead after firmware update | Razer Insider
Skip to main content

I have a Razer Blade 14 2022  with a RTX 3080 Ti Model No. RZ09-0427PGA3. Some days ago I did the v1.1.1.3 update according to the instructions without errors. Afterwards the Nvidia GPU did not work anymore. Windows showed the problem icon in the device manager and Linux (dual boot) could not initialize the GPU using the proprietary nvidia kernel module anymore. I tried updating drivers on both OSes without success. After that I tried to rule out Optimus and switched to dedicated GPU only in the BIOS. Now the Laptop does not boot at all anymore. Keyboard light and razer logo light up, green led is pulsating slowly, display is showing nothing, no backlight. External monitors on HDMI or USB-C receive no signal. Not reacting to any keys like F1 or F9.

Tried all applicable measures from the support websites: hard reset, unplugging and replugging PSU while hard resetting, draining the battery. I am a bit shocked, that there seems to be no way to clear CMOS back to defaults to have the internal GPU working again and to recover to an older firmware on a laptop in this price range, but that seems to be the case.

As the laptop is not turning on anymore, I cannot provide further details. The error messages on Linux, while it was still turning on were very similar to those in this thread:

Is there anything that can be done to get this brick working again? Does anyone have a similar experience? Did the very similar sounding problem of the person in the linked thread ever get resolved?
