Blade 15 Advanced - Not enough power when battery disconnected | Razer Insider

Hello!

Today, I disconnected the battery on my Blade 15 Advanced (Mid 2021) after it started to show signs of swelling. However, I’m having a weird issue where if the power adapter AND my USB-C docking/charging station is plugged in, Synapse says the the system isn’t receiving adequate power. If I disconnect the dock (so only operate on the power adapter) or reconnect the battery, the issue goes away.

I have already tried to update the BIOS firmware and Synapse with no success. I’ve seen a post on Reddit about this a few months back with a Blade 14, but there didn’t seem to be a resolution.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

I have the exact same issue on my Blade 14 RZ09-0370. I have my battery diconnected and powered via original AC power brick. The moment I connect a dock to my already powered laptop I land in the ‘inadequate power’ category and I’m limited to ~30W on GPU.

Latest BIOS, tried both the new Synapse beta and Synapse 3

Yeah I just ran into the same issue today. Looks like if the battery is removed from the laptop and the power brick is connected to the laptop at the same time as a thunderbolt connection that can provide power, something goes wrong. Either the machine switches its main power to be from the USB-C connection or the machine misunderstands the wattage that is available to it.

Seems like a pretty rare edge case that Razer probably overlooked, so it probably won’t get fixed. I am planning to just get a display port to usb c connection instead which shouldn’t carry power to the laptop.
