Model: Razer Blade 16 (2023), RZ09-0483TEH3, serial (available to Razer staff upon request)
After installing the official BIOS 2.05 update (AMI 2.22.1287, build 01/07/2026) via the Razer updater, the laptop fails every boot with "Secure Boot Violation: Invalid signature detected." In BIOS, System Mode is Deployed, Vendor Keys Active, and the Secure Boot setting is locked to Enabled and cannot be changed. There is no Key Management, Reset to Setup Mode, or Restore Factory Keys option. Setting an administrator password and loading optimized defaults do not unlock it.
This is the same defect reported by multiple Blade 15/16/18 owners on BIOS 2.03 through 2.05 (Razer Insider topics 86379, 88083, 90435; your case 260801-001325). The official securebootrecovery.efi workaround (article 20795) cannot be used because it requires disabling Secure Boot first. Which I can’t do. Because it is locked to Enabled and cannot be changed.
Unforch, the lifesaving solution in topic 90435 (to open the case and pull the CMOS battery) isn’t easy for me because two of the Torx T5 screws in the case are stripped. I can’t open the case.
I have a temporary boot workaround in place but no permanent fix, using a shim. It’s ugly as heck and Secure Boot acts disabled, but the setting is still locked on in the BIOS. In brief:
Firmware -> shimx64.efi (trusted via 3rd-party CA)
-> grubx64.efi (signed, checked by shim)
-> original bootmgfw.efi (shim checking disabled, so it loads)
-> Windows
This will probably break the next time I get a Windows Update.
Since this was caused by Razer's own firmware update, I am requesting a no-charge remedy: either a recovery firmware package that resets the Secure Boot key store / Platform Key for RZ09-0483, or a no-cost repair. I am out of warranty and not willing to pay a diagnostic fee for a defect introduced by your update, and everything can be done remotely. I don’t need to send it in to fix it, other than, I guess, if you have some magical way to drill out the stripped case screws.
