Blade 16 not going to sleep properly when lid closed

ammoFlaxbuzz434

Hi, I’m not sure when exactly this started happening, but my Blade 16 refuses to consistently sleep (about half the time with the lid closed in the last 24 hours was “screen off” rather than “sleep” according to Windows’s battery usage graphs.  I’ve tried everything I could find online, from the power troubleshooter, to device manager settings, etc, and confirmed that it’s set to go to sleep when the lid is closed - as well as after 10 minutes of inactivity regardless.  However, whether this actually happens is extremely inconsistent, leading to unnecessary heat generation while it shouldn’t even be in use.  Any more razer-specific or win11-specific suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks!

bump

sorry

I am having the same issue. I have refreshed the system with the recovery image they provided. I tried updating all drivers. All settings in control panel are set correctly for system to go to sleep on lid closed and it still does not go to sleep. Lid is closed but fans are still running and never stop.
I bought this unit 5 days ago, spent over $3,500 and while this might be minor issue for that money, I expect this computer to work without issues. So, I requested the returns.
I hate the idea that I actually have to shut down computer completely in order to put it in my backpack.

Yes sleeps is broken on the 16 inch along Mini Led not having Option for Single Zone making BOE screens look bad and other issues that razer has ignored, But this time I’m done.

I’ve spoken with Multiple Blade 16 owners and we have decided to launch Class action against Razer as they are ignoring issues and Release these products broken with multiple issus at prices of 5000€ here in Germany..

Alongside the previously mentioned display concerns in both support tickets and this forum regarding multi-zone dimming and single zone not being supported on 2023 models, we have encountered a significant problem where the laptop fails to enter sleep mode upon closing the lid. This issue not only disrupts our workflow but also raises concerns regarding the longevity and battery life of the device.

Despite following all recommended settings and troubleshooting steps available in your support documentation and forums, the problem persists. This malfunction contradicts the expected behavior of a high-end laptop designed for professional use and significantly impacts our studio's operational efficiency.

The inability of the laptop to properly enter sleep mode poses a risk to the device's hardware through unnecessary power consumption and thermal strain. Moreover, it undermines our confidence in the reliability of Razer products for professional environments where such basic functionalities are taken for granted.

Given the severity of this issue and its implications for our work, we request urgent attention to resolve this matter. We also seek clarity on whether this is a known issue with the 2023 models and if there are any forthcoming updates or workarounds that might address this problem.

Simply put, This is unnacceptable

We appreciate your prompt response and assistance in resolving this issue. Our commitment to using Razer products is based on a trust in their performance and reliability, which we hope can be reaffirmed through your support in this matter.

This issue must be tackle seriously cause it happens to break my screen and now my laptop screen is as shown as below. Same as the user above, yesterday I close the laptop lid without shutting down and I put it in my backpack. An hour later when I retrieve my bag it feels very warm and I notice that the laptop still running without the fan on. When I open the laptop lid it’s already broken, the screen is not usable and I was very disappointing as it have caused many inconvenience. I will be much appreciated if you can have proper QC and have after sales service even if its out of warranty.

Sorry this happened, but its all on Razer, they have supplied a faulty product and fixed in the newer version and screw everyone who made a mistake. They have still yet to fix anything for our version, and support basically kept  me in a loop until i gave up. They never fixed the local dimming and they have never fixed the sleep issue. The safest thing to do is Hibernate. This was the worst laptop and customer support ive ever had. I will never buy anything from Razer again and i recommend anyone reading this, dont bother with them.

sorry any fixes so far or we are pretty much stuck with a $5000 laptop that is unable to go to sleep and wasting fan/battery life?

Has anyone solved the issue? I’m having the same issue and my laptop has almost died reaching burning temperatures while being 40min in my backpack in “””””sleep”””” mode!!! this a 4500+ euro professional product! It basically doesn’t really sleep! I need to be able to put it in my back without fear! What do you guys recommend??

Makes no difference - I’ve just pre-ordered the 5090 AMD and will be ditching the 4090 Intel asap - this also happened on occasion with my 3080 Blade 15 so I am now giving Razer one last chance. Then it’s over to ASUS RoG in future if it still happens again.
