Blade 18 (2023) fan pulses on high for a moment when kicking in

The issue

Whenever the fans kick in, an unusual noise occurs. It sounds to me like the fans receiving 100% power for a split second before returning down to 1% and slowly ramping back up from there. I would expect that the intended behaviour is for fans to slowly ramp up over the course of 10 seconds or so without this initial “pulse” sound occurring.

Video

Here’s a video of the sound occurring as I turn the fans on manually.

The issue has also been documented on reddit (by someone else) https://www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/17ajc1t/noise_when_fans_kick_in/

Additional considerations

  • It appears to happen when the fan mode is on either Balanced or Custom, but not on Silent.
  • I could just keep my fans on Silent mode but I expect that this will have performance implications. If it were possible to use Custom or Balanced without this happening, I’d prefer that.
  • It’s not the worst thing in the world — it only bothers me when I’m doing quiet work — but I’m concerned that the lifespan of the fan components may be reduced if they’re receiving a jolt of current as it sounds like they are.

My question

Has anyone else encountered this or found a fix for it?

Edit:

This noise does, in fact, occur when performance mode is set to Silent as well. I currently have no solution for it.
