Setup
- Headset: Razer BlackShark V3 Pro (HyperSpeed wireless dongle)
- Razer Synapse 4 – RazerAppEngine 4.0.827 (updated Oct 1, 2026)
- THX Spatial Audio 4.1.28.1057 / ThxV4Native v1.1.3.0
- Windows 11 Home (build 26300)
Problem
Since the latest Synapse update, every time I Alt+Tab in or out of a fullscreen game, the audio cuts out for about 1 second. While in game, the sound also switches to a much worse "game" THX preset (spatial + upmix), even though I use Stereo everywhere.
It started on Oct 4, 2026, right after Synapse restarted with the new version. It never happened before.
What the logs show
On every foreground window change, Synapse detects the game and switches THX presets:
products_1398_mw.log
onForegroundWindowChange ~ runningGame: {"exe_name":"CrimsonDesert.exe", ...}
setActiveSpeakerEqualizer called game [...] trueThxV4Native.log
19:56:33 SetProperty headphones_game propId:spatial_enabled value:true
19:56:32 SelectPreset profile_presets presetId:game
19:56:37 SetProperty headphones_game propId:spatial_enabled value:false
SelectPreset profile_presets presetId:custom
19:56:39 spatial_enabled value:true
19:56:45 spatial_enabled value:false
Every spatial_enabled true/false toggle reinitializes the audio stream, and that causes the ~1 s dropout. On Oct 4 alone there were 87 toggles, compared with about 10 per day before.
What I already tried (none of it fixed it)
- Calibration set to Stereo: the game still forces
presetId:gamewith spatial on. - Set the game profiles (Valheim, Crimson Desert) to the same EQ as my default.
- Removed the games from Game Profiles and Linked Games: the automatic game scan (
GMS_Custom_onScanCompleted) re-adds them. - Stopped and disabled Razer Game Manager Service 3: Synapse still detects the foreground game and keeps switching.
The only workaround is to fully quit Synapse from the tray. Then there is no dropout, and the sound is fine because the EQ is stored on the headset.
Expected behavior
An option to fully disable automatic per-game THX/EQ switching. At the very least, removing a game from Linked Games should stop it from being re-added and from triggering a preset change.
I can provide full ThxV4Native.log / products_1398_mw logs if needed.
