Device: Razer DeathAdder V2 X HyperSpeed
Software: Razer Synapse (Version 4)
Operating System: Windows 11 (64-bit)
Dear Razer Support Team,
I am writing to report a software bug introduced in Razer Synapse 4 regarding button reassignment on the Razer DeathAdder V2 X HyperSpeed.
Problem Summary
In Synapse 3, both upper-left edge buttons (factory defaults: Sensitivity Stage Up and Sensitivity Stage Down) could be freely rebound to Multimedia functions (Volume Up and Volume Down).
In Synapse 4, the software enforces an unintended pair-lock restriction:
-
Rebinding the upper edge button to Volume Up causes Synapse to forcibly lock the lower edge button to Sensitivity Stage Down.
-
When attempting to assign the lower button to Multimedia > Volume Down, clicking Save either prompts an endless save dialogue, reverts instantly, or silently drops the assignment without applying it to the mouse.
-
The software acts as if at least one physical DPI button must remain on the device at all times, making it impossible to map both buttons to volume controls simultaneously.
Troubleshooting Already Attempted
-
Toggled Sensitivity Stages to OFF in the Performance tab (issue persists).
-
Assigned a dummy Sensitivity button to the Hypershift layer (the standard layer physical button remains locked).
-
Created completely new profiles from scratch (the bug replicates immediately).
-
Performed a full Device Reset via the Synapse Settings menu.
-
Completely reinstalled the software and tested with a fresh configuration.
Expected Behavior
Users should be able to freely rebind both index buttons to Multimedia functions (Volume Up / Volume Down) or other custom keys without Synapse enforcing a fallback Sensitivity binding, as was supported throughout Synapse 3.
Please forward this report and device profile behavior to the Synapse 4 development and QA teams for an upcoming software patch.
