Can I get some info on the razer cortex tournaments?

I was participating in the season 8 tournament and we nearly had the grand prize but one of my friends times bugged and he received an extra minute. this caused the 5 minutes per update to change to 6 minutes for him, and in the end this caused us to be unable to collect the grand prize in time. I was wondering when we might be expecting season 9 as well as if the updating system would be any better?
