Can't assign function keys to media keys

I have Razer Blade 15 base, Synapse 3.6.415. F keys default to function keys. I like to have them as media keys. I tried that in Synapse many times, but doesn't work. Option is checked, but I still have to press Fn for media keys. Very annoying. How to fix this? thanks

No ideas? I have reinstalled Synapse but didn't solve the problem. This is so basic that change between function and media keys shouldn't be an issue.
