Question

Can't select output device in the 7.1 Surround Sound app.

Can’t get it work. The dropdown menu is disabled.

I’ve removed the 7.1 audio device from the system earlier (Windows 10, 64bit). And now when I re-install the app it doesn’t add the 7.1 device to the list of devices.

This official tutorial didn’t help. According to the tutorial:
1) On the step 9 I don’t have the “Razer” in the list of manufacturers.

2) Although I have a “Razer Device” in the list shown on the step 7. But it doesn’t help, because when I choose it, the next step just tells me that it’s unanble to find driver for the device. And no other options.

The headophones themselves are working, I hear sound. But it works just like an ordinary stereo headset.

Please, help to resolved the issue.

Please try removing all Razer-related files using the Razer Driver Clean-up tool: https://rzr.to/Tf53xj. Once done, please restart your computer, and reinstall the 7.1 Surround Sound and any supplementary update you’ll receive. Let me know how it went.

Although I can select an Output Device, there is no audio neither when using the built-in audio device (Realtek, through cable) nor when using the Barracuda X 2.4 dongle.

There is audio when not channeling through the 7.1 Surround Sound app, so the headphones work great. But no audio at all when using the app.

Is there a resolution for this?

Hi, I’ve had the same issue, tried this and it worked. I had  Razer Synapse and Cortex installed, I deleted them first and then cleaned the drivers using your method. Reinstalled 7.1 Surround Sound and now I have an option in the playback dedvice.

Hi Umo - just to say that I found an instruction video (sorry don't have the link but if you Google should find easy) and turns out the app drop down list is not suppose to include the 7.1 Surround Sound option - as long as you have that selected under windows audio settings then you should be good to go. Audio on mine is great !

Solution that worked for me:

  1. Open Settings in Windows.
  2. Go to Apps > Installed apps (or Add or Remove Programs in older versions).
  3. Find 7.1 Surround Sound in the list.
  4. Click on the three dots (on Windows 11) or the available option, then select Modify.
  5. This will open the Razer Installer. Inside it, click on Repair/Modify.

After trying several solutions, this was the only one that worked for me.

Note: My Windows is set to Brazilian Portuguese, so some option names might be slightly different in other languages. Hope this helps! 😊
