Charger for Razer Blade 15 base model | Razer Insider

The charger for my Laptop (The Razer Blade 15 base model, 2020 I think) has suddenly stopped working.

I did notice some fraying a few days prior, at the point of connection with the cord and the power box itself, but figured 'Hell, I can order one next Payday, it's in a week and a half'.

I've already ordered a replacement at the expense of $130 but what do I do with the old one? I don't want to just toss it in the garbage, I don't know if it works like batteries where it's bad to do that or nah - but also I was hoping to maybe find some compensation of some sort?

It was sudden, the laptop is barely a year and a half in my possession, and I had to shell out 130$ out of knowhere...it's gonna take until this weekend, nearly a full week since the whole thing went kaput, at least and my laptop is just completely dead and useless till I can get it charged back to 100.

I use it for more than just gaming, to say it's a bit of an inconvenience is saying it a little lightly.

First, check if your laptop charger is still under warranty. If it is, you might be eligible for a replacement or repair at no cost. Contact Razer's customer support or refer to the warranty information that came with your laptop. Don't simply toss the old charger in the garbage. Electronic waste should be disposed of properly. You can look for local electronics recycling programs or drop-off locations in your area. Many cities have specific centers for e-waste recycling. While it's less common with accessories like chargers, if you believe the fraying was due to a manufacturing defect or unusual wear and tear, you can try contacting Razer and politely explaining your situation. They may offer some form of compensation, although this is not guaranteed.

Dumb question: would the warranty be a physical note/paper? And can it be found in the original box or through the laptop itself/my Razer app(s)..?

If it's a case of the original box - I had thought I had kept it but after looking around I believe it might have been thrown away unfortunately. I also went back through my emails and discovered that I had actually ordered and registered the device the 27th of September 2021, so it has been 2 years apparently and just days before I had discovered the issue...so it might be a lost cause regardless.

Either way, I've already bought the replacement and if my warranty is out, despite it happening before the case, I don't think it will lead to any compensation. I do appreciate you letting me know where and how I should properly dispose of the old charger though. I kinda figured that just tossing it in the bag on trash day wasn't gonna be a good idea.
