Connecting Razer Hanbo and Tomahawk to a Single USB2 Connector

Hello,

I've recently made a build with a Tomahawk Mini-ITX, Hanbo 240mm and an Asus Strix z690i motherboard.

The Tomahawk and Hanbo seem to both require a USB2 connector in the motherboard and need to be directly attached to it, however, my motherboard only has one USB2 Connector available. It comes with a Splitter, but connecting to the Splitter means the device is undetected in Synapse; it seems to only work if plugged directly.

Any solution to connecting both the case and Hanbo on such a motherboard? Seems to be common for Mini-ITXs to only have one slot available.

Did this topic help you find an answer to your question?

Nop, still waiting for assistance.

I just got a USB2 header splitter from Amazon and was successfully able to connect both the case and the Hanbo to Synapse. Maybe your splitter is broken or there’s some other motherboard issue?

Here is the splitter I used: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CJQ6JHND

Hello. Coming back to this a few months after the build, @Gainsborohomedaily634 I have no idea how you’ve achieved it, I tried the same splitter, same issue.

From the website, I can also see: “【Note】The 2 expansion ports can not transmit data at the same time. One is for powering the device and one is for data transmission. May not support USB front panel, depends on your motherboard. Please feel free to contact us if any questions.”.

I believe for both the Hanbo and Tomahawk to be recognized as manageable devices in Synapse, some kind of data connection would need to be available for both. It seems most Y-Splitters won’t be able to achieve this, so the only solution is an internal hub, from what I can tell.

The Razer ARGB Controller looked promising, if only it could double as a HUB like the Coolermaster one.

Would love to get some recommendations, until then I keep exploring solutions.
