Cynosa V2 and USB Switch

I'm using a USB switch between my personal and work laptops for keyboard (Cynosa V2) and mouse (Deathadder) - when switching to my work laptop, the keyboard lights go out and do not come back. If I start the work PC with the keyboard, it works fine, but when switching to and from, it stops working. The mouse on the same switch stays lit. I did not/cannot install the Synapse software on the work laptop because it's locked down and I cannot install anything on it. Is there a way to turn on the lights manually? Brightness keys also do not work on the work PC.
