Default lighting for Viper 8KHz | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
I'm new to Razer. Began using a Viper 8KHz today with Synapse 3.6.1215.121004 on Windows 10.

I set up a static color profile and enabled the setting to turn lighting off when the display is off. The profile is saved to the Viper 8KHz.

But when I exit Synapse or allow my monitor to time out (or power it off manually), the lighting reverts to a cycling of various colors, in defiance of the static color and "switch off lighting" settings I have configured.

Isn't there a way to force the mouse to use a certain static color for lighting when Synapse isn't running? And shouldn't the lights turn off when the monitor times out or is powered off?

I'm more concerned with the colors than I am whether the lighting turns off with the display.

Since posting this, I've purchased and installed a Cynosa V2 keyboard. The same thing happens with the lighting: If I exit Synapse, the keyboard and mouse both stop displaying my static color, and instead revert to color cycling.

Isn't there a way to make it so the keyboard and mouse show my preferred static color at all times when my PC is providing power to them? Or am I simply asking too much of the universe?
Support has informed me via email that this is not possible. I am used to it being (at least theoretically) possible since Corsair iCUE does this, when the software works (which is almost never).

So, apparently, Synapse stores profiles to devices not so those devices can use those profiles when Synapse isn't running (the way Corsair products theoretically work), but simply to make the settings portable for whenever Synapse is running.

I'm not sure why this isn't made more clear on the product pages. It would have saved me a lot of frustration.
