Do I need battery if I'm using a dongle

I want to buy the Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed with the wireless dongle but I am wondering, do I need to be using a battery while using the dongle because it’s a bit heavy for me if I need to.  I plan on using it wireless with the dongle anyway but do I need to battery or is that for wireless?
