Does the Razer Blade 16 RTX4090 works with a 100W charger?

Hello,

I'm currently using a Razer Blade 16 4090, 2023.

I'm trying to use USB-C at work because I saw some videos explaning that the laptop can run with 100W while doing small tasks. The issue is that when it's plugged in with a USBC + 100w adaptor, the laptop keeps discharging the battery, even doing almost nothing,

How can I use a 100W USBC charger and still working on my laptop without discharging it? Should I do something different in configurations ?  Or it really doesn't work with a 100W charger?

(I have already tried the charger and cable, it works with 100W. So it's not that they don't work).

I understand your concern regarding the battery discharge issue when using a 100W USB-C charger with your Razer Blade 16 laptop. There are a few factors that could be causing this problem. Here are some suggestions to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

  1. Power settings: web technology app USA Check the power settings on your laptop to ensure that it is not set to a power-saving mode or limited performance mode. Adjust the settings to allow for maximum performance while connected to the charger servies.

  2. BIOS and firmware updates: Make sure that your laptop's BIOS and firmware are up to date. Manufacturers often release updates that can address power management and compatibility issues.

  3. USB-C port capabilities: Confirm that the USB-C port on your laptop supports power delivery of 100W. Some laptops have USB-C ports that may not be capable of providing full power delivery, so it's important to verify the specifications of your specific model.

  4. Charging cable: Ensure that you are using a high-quality USB-C cable that supports power delivery. A faulty or incompatible cable can affect charging efficiency and cause battery discharge.

I have the same issue with a 100W and a 230W charger.

It would be great to have a way to reduce the performance of the Blade 16/18 so the battery does not discharge while having them connected.

Also on battery mode it woud be great to have a way the limit power usage of CPU and GPU, so that the battery last as long as possible (of course I am using adavanced opitmus, power-saving mode). Still there could be more done to reduce the power usage.
Would it make sense to deactivate some of the efficiency cores to extend battery life?

Of course all this with regular office use not for gaming. For gaming the power supply is really needed.

The Razer Blade 16 RTX 4090 is a high-performance gaming laptop that requires substantial power to operate optimally. While it is always recommended to use the official charger provided by the manufacturer, it is important to check the power requirements of the laptop and the specifications of the charger to ensure compatibility.

Hello Olivia,

but what is the USB-C charging option then for?

If I talk about gaming or other high performance task, I of course need the 330 W adapter.

But it should be possilbe to work with a USB-C docking station with low performance tasks like Word or Outlook, without having to be afraid, that the battery is discharging. Especially in Optimus and power saving mode, as the Microsoft Office for sure, does not need the RTX 4090.

Best regards

Christian
