Help with Tartarus Pro macros for keybinding diagonal movement

I'm having trouble with configuring the d-pad on my new Tartarus Pro for movement keys in games. I have the 4 cardinal directions bound to WASD, and that works fine. The problem is with using the diagonals for input of: W+A, W+D, S+A, and S+D. In Synapse 3, I've created a macro to assign to the upper-right diagonal which I want to function as pressing W and D at the same time. I've tried manually recording the macro, and also just using the Insert option for the key presses. I have no delay turned on. If I leave the release of the keys in the macro, with the macro set to play while the assigned key is pressed, I get a stutter step effect as W and D are constantly pressed and released. If I remove the release of the keys from the macro, then I end up auto running either forward or to the right in games. There has to be a way to make this function like two keys being pressed until released, but I can't find the combination. Any help is appreciated.

Nevermind. Setting the d-pad to 4 way settings gives the results I was trying to configure in the 8-way settings. Still, I would think the macros should work.
