How come it won"t work with my Xbox headset

So I got my Razer Kiyo from a pawn shop and have been trying to get it set up as just a webcam I don’t stream or anything but every time I plug it into my laptop it disconnects my volume controls and makes it that even my headset doesn’t even connect I’ve tried for hours, watched many videos on how to get it but nothing has worked and even downloaded the software that the instructions have said to get can someone help or did i just waste my money.
