How did my Kraken Ultimate headband break? | Razer Insider
Skip to main content

The entire right side of my headset is not attached to anything. It is still all in one piece, however the part with the notches (for indicating headband adjustment steps/measurement) just slides around instead of clicking into each notch.

I can even very easily pull it out, and nothing looks broken, and there’s no rattling or cracks. I have never thrown or dropped the headset, and I always keep the headband adjusted the same exact distance. I only noticed it because I accidentally pushed the cushion out of place, and was trying to put it back on, when I felt the whole right side just slide out.

The cables are still attached and both sides still work fine, no sound issues.

P.S. It is sadly long past warranty. I just want to know what on earth could’ve caused this.

Same, just noticed two days ago. No luck finding any info at all.

In case anyone has this same problem, it happened to me also. THIS IS NOT A PERMENTANT FIX. THIS HAPPENS BECAUSE A SMALL PART HAS CHIPPED AWAY INSIDE IT, BUT THIS FIX WILL HELP UNTIL YOU CAN GET A NEW ONE.

  1. Where the headset slides in is a small black circle between the arm bits, it is padding. Pull that out, and unscrew the screw beneath it. See first pic, the blue circle. Then slide that metal bit down. The white line is where the fabric is under the metal once you slid it down, cut the top and underneath also.

  2. Once that is back, you will see two metal arms gound round the outer edges of the top part of the headset (connecting the right and left) and between that a small metal bit with bumps on (red outline). Sliding on the middle bit is a white block (green outline).

  1. This is the tricky part, you need to lift up the red outline part, and slide in the headset so the white block (green outline) goes over the top. You will notice on the top of the arm of the headset are two notches that slide in. Under the white block are two blocks that fit in those notches. Once that is over the notches, push down to click it in place.
  2. To summarise the last part, slide in the arm whilst lifting the red outline, and click the white outline in place.
  3. Once done, screw up and glue fabric back or tie it up or what you want to do with is.

I KNOW THIS IS AN OLD THREAD BUT JUST HELPING OTHERS AS RAZER PRODUCTS SEEM TO BREAK THE MOMENT THEY GO OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS IS THE SECOND PERIPHERAL THIS MONTH THAT HAS BROKEN, THIS HEADSET AND MY TATARUS KEYPAD, AND I CANNOT REPLACE EITHER DUE TO PERSONAL FUNDS AND NO WARRANTY.

I hope this helps. Thanks.

I’ve had this issue for a couple of weeks now and it was a similar situation to this where i have the headband on a certain setting and I have never thrown or dropped the headset. I don’t know what to do because i wanna keep using it but at the same time i don’t want it breaking more and I know i don’t have enough money for another one.
