One of my cats stepped on my keyboard; one of the affected keys was F11 but there were almost certainly others. Ever since, the keyboard shortcut “Windows Key + .” no longer opens the emoji keyboard. In fact this shortcut combination doesn’t do anything anymore. Can someone point me to the likely culprit? I’m guessing another function key, but I’ve tried all the ones in that general area to no avail. Thank you.

Never mind; I discovered the answer. Gaming Mode was inadvertently turned on; when I turned it off using fn+F10 I got my emojis back. Sorry folks.
