Huntsman mini broke my windows

I just bought the huntsman mini which I totally love in terms of look and feel... but I'm returning it right away :(
This is the 2nd time I buy a razer product and have to return it, both times the product had so much potential and both times seems like "lack of test" is the reason the product is barely usable, a real pitty cause I truly love the look and feel.

Well, I go to the point. Got the keyboard yesterday and I wasn't able to use the "onboard" profiles, synapse lets me load them and all that but when I cycle trough them in the keyboard with synapse turned off they do not work (I always get the same "Spectrum cycling" lighning no mater what I loaded into the profile).

So I headed to the support page for the keyboard and found that there is firmware update, I though "Great! this might fix the issue"... After installing the driver the keyboard FN combos were messed and the windows taskbar unusable, the FN combos were fixed once I launched again synapse but the windows taskbar is broken for the span of 4 to 5 minutes every time I start windows (that is simply unbearable, I have to reinstall windows now but I cannot keep a keyboard that I know can cause that, not the keyboard itself, but the support attached to it).

work for me
I'd rather not start disabling things in Device Manager, This may work temporarily but it needs a proper firmware fix.

None of my HID devices show one as having something different than the other HID-Compliant Device. I did test the keyboard on my work laptop without Synapse 3 and which has an Intel CPU and it didn't have the issue. This now makes me wonder is it the Ryzen CPU or the x570 boards that are apart of the issue? Still don't understand why we are having to do the work for Razer here. I can tell you their support staff that I've been dealing with via my ticket do not seem very technical at all and keep asking the same stupid questions. I had one today who referred to exporer.exe crashing as a browser. My patience is wearing pretty thin at this point. If there weren't freezing issues with the Durgod Venus I would spend the extra $$$ and get that. I feel like the only other real option at this point is a Ducky, but it's hard to catch those in stock.

I got a PM from one of the main forum Razer reps telling me he's going to supply me with an updated firmware that should fix the issue and yes it is only an issue with Ryzen CPU's and X570 motherboards but I have 4 other mechanical keyboards, Corsair K65 Lux, Razer X Chroma, Bluetooth Logitech and a custom built mechanical keyboard, None have any issues on my Ryzen machine, It's that damn stupid 1.01 firmware update that Razer released back in September that messed something up.

Please keep us posted on how it works and hopefully it's not the same one they sent me yesterday lol. Like you, this is the only keyboard I have issues with on this system. My HyperX Alloy Origins has no issues at all.

You sign away any hope of a working product the moment you buy a Razer product.

Well, I ended up buying the Razer Blackshark V2 Pros at the same time as the keyboard so I'm definitely worried at this point. I feel kinda silly dropping over $300 on two peripherals and having issues with one of them right off the bat.

If this isn't solved soon then I'm selling it on ebay and steering well clear of Razer products going forward and warning others not to buy Razer, It's a keyboard, 1 of the most basic things in a computer setup, This shouldn't be happening XD

Right!!!! When it first started happening I thought for sure it was just Windows being stupid. I mean in the 15 years I've been doing IT I've never seen this issue. I was so surprised when my troubleshooting led me to the keyboard being the issue. I remember saying out loud, "you've got to be f-ing kidding me."

I know what you mean, Been building computers since roughly 2007 and upon finding out the keyboard was the root cause I was like "what in the actual shiznits is this ?!?!?!" 👎
I have the same issues (super slow Windows boot/freeze, keys not working) with the Huntsman Mini on my Ryzen 5 1600 on a A320M-K mainboard. I unplugged the keyboard and tried it with my Windows Surface laptop and it works without any problems. I will wait for that firmware fix for a bit longer right until my warranty expires.

Man, with all the people having this issue I can't believe this isn't a higher priority. Sorry, you had to join this merry band. 🙂
Just bought a Mini and have AMD laptop, was going crazy all day and found this thread.

This is crazy that they have yet to fix this issue....

a keyboard having issues out of the box is a no starter with me I guess I return this and go back to using my Huntsman elite.

Think this will be my last razer product. it's insane thinking they waited all this time with zero fixes.
The taskbar issue may be amd only but the keyboard will also glitch out and double or triple spam key presses or have random keys stop working at times. I've tested that aspect on both a zen3/x570 build and an intel z370 build.

I know the keyboard itself isn't faulty though because i can plug it into an older machine and it works flawlessly. So it's some sort of software/firmware issue.
The taskbar is not an AMD only issue. It is also happening on my Intel Z390 and my friend's Intel Z590 with the same Huntsman Tournament Edition TKL keyboard.
They have sent me firmware to try.

It certainly is improved. Still seems a little off.

I hope Razer is aware that this problem is also on the Huntsman Tournament Editon TKL and issues a fix as well. It is a joke they do not even know which products are affected to only issue a firmware fix for 1 variant.

Confirmed this solved the issue for me as well. My support person still hasn't sent this to me so I appreciate the group effort here. Take care all.
