I desperately need the driver for the touchscreen on the 2017 razer blade | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
Hi,

I've owned my Razer Blade 4k 2017 for about two months now and since I got it I've noticed that its touchscreen sometimes spontaneously doesn't work from startup until the laptop has been restarted multiple times. I decided to look up solutions to this and found that, when not working, my touchscreen is shown as a hidden, greyed-out device in device manager rather than a regular one, its name in the device manager is "hid-compliant touchscreen". Because of this, I couldn't do much with it other than uninstall it when it wouldn't work, so I looked up what to do when the device is greyed out and found out that apparently I should just uninstall it and then it would automatically be reinstalled upon the next restart. So with no better option and a few system restore points created I decided to try it, and of course it didn't work but instead just seemingly permanently got rid of the touchscreen driver all together. Just now I tried resetting my laptop back to one of the restore points and of course that didn't work either because of some random error: "0x800701b1". I've also tried looking for drivers for the touchscreen online but couldn't find anything, not even on that dedicated razer hardware driver website. I've even used these driver detection apps, none of them detected that I was even supposed to have a touchscreen driver in the first place.

So please, if, among all the other hardware drivers, there's also an "hid-compliant touchscreen" driver on the razer hardware driver database somewhere, give me that driver, my laptop does not seem to be reinstalling it automatically and I just wanna use this touchscreen for uni.
Hello Sergeantflipper, did you get this issue resolved, by chance? If so, how?

Hi, no I did not and I haven't received any help from Razer so far either, unfortunately, however, I'm planning to do a full system reset soon and see if the issue resolves after that. Will keep you updated.
Good luck, I've reset twice with no joy.

So, I reset a couple of days ago and chose to have everything wiped clean and Windows downloaded and installed off the cloud rather than from the existing installation and since then have started and shut down the laptop probably a total of about at least 6 to 8 times and each time the touchscreen worked consistently, so either I've had a lucky streak or that really fixed, will probably update again after the next like 10 uses or as soon as it fails again. Also, I recommend that you try to uninstall as many razer and touchscreen related drivers as possible before resetting, maybe then it'll actually automatically reinstall the proper drivers instead.
That's great news! I did not do a complete wipe so I will certainly give this a go. Thanks for updating!

I'm glad that its display/touchscreen worked after reverting the laptop's operating system to its factory state and re-updating its operating system.

Hey buzzFirebricksight523. Please update this thread or send me a PM should the issue persist even after performing the steps above.

Unfortunately, the issue has returned after about 16-20 uses where it worked perfectly. I've now uninstalled the hid-touchscreen driver and reset the laptop and it's yet to have been reinstalled. I'll give it two more chances: First I'll wait for it to be reinstalled and work again and then see whether it finally starts to work consistently thanks to the fresh install, then, if it stops working again, I'll perform another reset but not before uninstalling any of the razer blade specific drivers I can find. If the latter doesn't resolve the issue either, I'll be forced to sell the device, as I intend to use it mainly as a productive/uni laptop with high performance capabilities, which unfortunately in that case will only be how it would have worked in theory.

The driver appears to be reinstalled and working now. I'll give it another chance to see if it'll continue to work from now own.

...Talk about short-lived, it immediately stopped working again. It appears I'll have to do the reset again.

That's inconvenient. Allow me to check your laptop's specs by sending me the following:

a. Photo of the BIOS main tab.

b. Screenshot of Nvidia/Intel Driver Version: (Press Windows+R on your keyboard. Type in DXDIAG into the run command text box and hit OK. Then click on YES. Click on the Display 1 and 2 tabs and look for the graphics driver version on the right side.)

c. MSinfo logs.

d. Synapse 3.0 logs.

Save the file via Google Drive or any online drive accounts, then paste the shareable link in your PM. I'll be locking this thread to curb our conversation privately and update it once the issue is narrowed down or resolved.
