Hi,
so I bought two Razer Blades Pro 17 (2019) years ago and put both of the default ssds (both are LITE-ON technology corp. CA3-8D512 S) into one of them. Updated this one to Windows 11 about two years ago. About 3 weeks ago the secondary drive (just data, not the windows drive) disappeared from windows and BIOS. At the same time there emerged rumours that a Windows 11 security update led to disappearing ssds from windows. Coincidence?, I don´t think so.
In most cases the ssd seems to reappear unharmed after a complete shutdown including complete power cycle. I tried that, even with disconnecting the battery. Not working in my case, completely gone, doesnt work in the other razer blade or an external ssd casing via USB-C either.
Latest news says, the ssd loss is caused through old firmware on the ssd (controller?). I couldn´t find new firmware updates for the LITE-ON technology corp. CA3-8D512 S though, will this be provided by Razer?
I am afraid that the maindrive will also fail in a matter of time elsewise.
And how can I rescue the data on the drive, in the forums they say, that the bug leads to problems in the SMART system and then leads to RAW. If I understand it right this means, that the data is still on the drive, but the index/directory is gone. I do only have a partial backup, so I would like to avoid data loss, if possible.
Thankful for every suggestion.
