Intel ME firmware update stops preemptively

I've successfully applied the Meltdown and Spectre BIOS update from https://mysupport.razer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3699 after which the laptop rebooted.
But now that I run the Intel ME updater, it runs for a few seconds, then exits abruptly at 70% (as opposed to running for 10-15 mins, reaching 100%, then rebooting as described in the instructions).
I know it hasn't gone through because if I launch the Meltdown updater it correctly identifies that it's already installed and doesn't let me proceed (same with the EC updater), while the ME updater just runs (or rather tries running) again.
Maybe Razer shut down the update delivery servers for older devices?
This is on a Blade 14 late 2016.
If so, how do I update the thing?
