Is my Blackshark V2 Pro Fake? How do I replace the earcups?

I’ve found a similar post to my issue, but since he got no replies and my issue is similar I’ll ask again.

I bought the Blackshark V2 Pro back in December 2022, so I don’t think this is the 2023 model. It has gotten quite dirty and the usual scrubbing wouldn’t do the job so I decided to order a prying kit by iFixit, then let it soak while I enjoy my Sunday. I looked at the official thread by Razer on how to remove the ear cushions, tried to find the joints, guides, etc. that they advised me to do, but in the end the earcups just came off like this.

Felt like they were super glued onto there. Now I’m sitting here frustrated, wasted 2 hours trying to understand the mechanisms, seeing if I did something wrong, browsing threads and trying to put them back on. I have no other option but to superglue them back on, and if I have any warranty that is voided I’m sure.

I see that the ear cushions on neither the 2023 model or the normal model looks like this. I thought that they might be fake so I looked at the serial number (which is a tiny bit scratched) and tried to find my warranty through the razer site to no avail. Nothing comes up with my serial number. However they sound(ed) great, felt great, and Razer Synapse recognised them for what they are. They also came in a box that hasn’t been tempered with. Nothing tells me that they could be fake, except these damn ear cushions.

Regardless, I am frustrated, upset, and even though I could replace them, it still doesn’t feel great spending that much money on this. Any tips are appreciated.

It’s 2020 version, and they’re legit.

You’ve damaged your ear cushions, because the plastic that is still in the headset (around the earcup) is a piece of ear cushion. So only you can try to remove these plastics and try to glue them to cushions again.

In that case I guess I’m just a bellend. Thank you for the reply, I can’t find the reply button. Maybe one day I’ll work up the courage to try removing them again, but superglue is my friend for now.

My Blackshark V2 also looks like this, but I didn’t try to pry it apart or anything, the earcup just came off on its own. Since the instructions (and the advice here) suggest that’s not supposed to happen, and I’m out of warranty, I guess the only thing to do is try to glue them back on?

they are literally advertised as the 2023 version. These are the ones I bought https://www.amazon.com/Razer-BlackShark-Wireless-Gaming-Headset/dp/B0C8VL3P5Y/ref=sr_1_6?crid=O1ZZQ0UV11IN&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.Xij4GboUaXrlvPmozQD4HkmByg-UnX-UrW4QPYsPQiZxIhhUoZ9bA-Mx2PvquUSWXdJ9cP-LBwvgI7egLTycx7V_977TmtSVjU_kkZwZ7GpqwAnsIY27HNsgTB9NHXkt76kii5yV-TMQSQoJjgINmMOyG3BiYBiS6J_favJGTjfiXhJ1SGKdV2X1anOL-rKAC1QTpBg-sgNldr3Kt-1EE_Wec-b8rbpmcHsdgP08VWM.KAKfQZkpadNRWS--2bL4EYmLFWr6rXREuIWYjkoKOOc&dib_tag=se&keywords=razer+blackshark+v2+pro&qid=1728234401&sprefix=%2Caps%2C118&sr=8-6

You seem to have bought a refurbished version? It doesn’t surprise me that it would be misclassified like that. I’d take it up with the reseller in question.
