Question

Key Remaps do not function while Synapse 4 is running

Xalence

Running new Synapse 4, profile remaps some of the thumb buttons on my mouse (Basilisk Ultimate) to keyboard buttons like numbers, etc. which only work while Synapse is NOT running. While Synapse is running they seem to be captured or something. This is annoying when I want to control the lighting, but can’t have Synapse running if I want the button mapping to work.

Looking for a solution so that remapped key presses function properly while Synapse 4 is running.

Did this topic help you find an answer to your question?

My Basilisk V3 Pro mapping isn’t working with Synapse 4 running, nor with Synapse 4 off! The remapped buttons say “This mapping requires Razer Synapse.” Why isn’t this working properly?

@MissDiamond, hey, no I haven’t. And no replies yet either 😤

hoping for an update that solves this but I’m not holding my breath. Luckily I have a the blackwidow v4 and those key maps are working, but I want my mouse to work fully too!

New update, my mouse ran out of battery so I had to plug it in directly with the USB-C. The remapped buttons started working. However, when I returned to wireless (2.4) mode, the remapped buttons stopped working again. Why is custom mapping only working on a wired connection?

the first part of this thread was absolutly correct, coles it and the mouse functions correctly, leave it running and it dosnt

Are any of you on the latest update of Windows 11 (24H2)?  Thinking that might have something to do with it.

Has anyone fixed this issue? It seems it hasn't been fixed yet.

Bluetooth and the 2.4 GHz dongle work. It seems the mouse dock pro was the issue on my end. Are you also using a mouse dock pro?

MarigoldbitSAPPHIRE669

I’m using a Naga and have the same problem, did anyone find a solution? PLEASE!!

zonefrontLemonCurry672

There is a workaround for it, I don’t know if it will temporarily fix it on your end, but if you want to make it work, try using a 2.4 GHZ dongle or Bluetooth connection, but if you are using a Mouse Dock (or 2.4GHZ dongle if the issue still exists) as a receiver, try logging out of your account and use the guest account instead, then create a new profile with the same keymaps.

SAME ISSUE AS ABOVE. I cannot set any custom keybindings to my Viper V3 Pro mouse side buttons. Ludicrous, this is the replacement mouse that Razer sent me for the last broken one that kept disconnecting. Losing faith in Razer.

My buttons will not remap on Viper V3 Pro in Synapse on the Wireless Dongle. When I connect through Synapse 4 with a wire, the buttons remap. But when I close Synapse, the buttons no longer work as mapped in Synapse while wired. And when I try editing the buttons in Synapse 4 with the Wireless Dongle they do not map - they do not work either with Synapse open or closed. Revo Uninstalled Synapse and deleted all trace program files and reinstalled anew and it is still the same issue.  Tried logging in with a different profile, resetting the profile, and creating a new profile on a different account and it does not work. Please fix this!!

With Mouse Dock Pro: Same issue. Not working with Synapse 4 open. When I Exit Synapse 4, keybinds work.

Using included 2.4ghz dongle: Keybinds work with/without Synapse 4 open.

Using a Basilisk V3 Pro 35K + Mouse Dock Pro. Paging Razer. You need to FIX THIS!!!

I am having the same issues with my naga pro. The mapping does not work when using the dongle or with a Bluetooth connection.

I just got an email from Razer support. Let's see what they'll do about it.

I believe it's a software issue with Synapse 4 since you are having the same issue with your supplied dongle and not the Mouse Dock Pro.

Have you tried using Synapse 3? This is quite disappointing as these are my very first Razer products which I took a gamble on coming from Logitech peripherals.

I have a Basilisk V3 Pro and a Mouse Dock Pro. I cannot get the key mapping to work either, even the default key mapping layout doesn’t work for me. When will there be a fix for this?

I did that actually for the past few days, experimented with synapse 3 and 4 to see which one fixes my basilisk v3 pro and the dock. Synapse 3 works a lot better, but it has a separate annoying issue, every time I startup my pc the mouse isn’t detected until I re-plugged in the dongle.. But the mappings worked every time, so arguably better on 3.
Garbage razer software here and there either way.

I totally agree. Synapse and Chroma are both a hot mess and lagging behind their counterparts. Can't even save the RGB profile to the onboard mouse profile. In 2025. Sheesh.

That said though, I actually lucked out with a fresh install of Synapse 4. My remaps now work but not all of it. Particularly the Sensitivity Clutch button. I cant set it to anything else that would worknin-game.

First time I bought anything Razer and it kinda bit me in the ass 😂

I have the same issue.  There is only 1 profile which is Default. I program the naga trinity side buttons to the following.

Button 1 = Alt + Right Arrow (forward on explorer or web browsers)

Button 4 = Alt + Left Arrow (back on explorer or web browsers)

Button 2 = Page Up  (really helpful to scroll web pages)

Button 3 = Page Down  (really helpful to scroll web pages)

With synapse running they dont work.  As soon as I close the app, they start working.

I specifically left Logitech as a 10+ year customer because they literally broke their software so bad that it became completely unreliable.  Now i feel Razer is doing the same thing.  This synaps 4 sucks! I hate the new UI so much that I might just quit Razer and switch to Roccat.

Why can’t they just leave $I(T alone?

I need application profile switching while gaming at home.  If i’m in Game 1 i need button 1 to do 1 thing and when im in Game 2 i need button 1 to do another.  Once they brake that, I’ll be done as a razer customer.

Same, been quite loyal to Logitech but I needed a new mouse and their recent releases are, to put it nicely, not to my expectations. 502x should've had the magspeed mouse wheel of the mx master 3. Instead razer beats them at their own game. But that's a story for another day.

My issue remains unresolved. Razer is asking me to do too much on my end instead of fixing the issue with Synapse 3/4 or via firmware update.

Also, it's 2025. Given the amount of RGB they have on their mice, you would think Razer would allow to store Chroma profiles in the onboard memory. Or at least give us the option to turn RGB off completely when not connected to Synapse. Sheesh.

As soon as Logitech releases a new mouse (hopefully with magspeed), I'm gonna be jumping back.

BernardsTytuss

The problem with Logitech is their software will not work with Xbox games on PC.   And neither ms or Logitech will fix the problem.   If you want to map buttons to keys you have to edit lines of code for every game that you want to create any type of key binds on your mouse.   I ditched Logitech simply for that.  The other major problem with Logitech is that their software constantly stops detecting your mouse, and you have to do a bunch of things just for the software to see your mouse again so that way you can use the key binds you created.   Like reboot or run as admiration, end task.  Throw Hail Mary, pray to the old gods and the new gods.  Jump up and down, spin around, do a handstand or somersault in hopes that it will detect your mouse in the softwareIt’s awful and I don’t know how Logitech sells any gaming mics anymore.

i’ll never buy Logitech again because of the lack of software support

Razor has been 100% solid up into this stupid synapse 4 which ruined everything
