Keyboard typing '\\ instead of ' | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
Good morning,

All the other keys work fine, but this one key adds on the backslash for some reason. Things I've tried so far:

Keyboard: Razer Ornata Chroma

Windows 10 (fully updated, I just checked)

Restarted computer many times

Uninstalled device

Cleaned keyboard

Checked for updated drivers / reinstalled drivers

Ran Keyboard and Hardware/Device troubleshooters

Checked registry for Upperfilters, it was already there

Checked languages, everything is set to English

No macros set up for the keyboard or any changes to keys for that matter, all default settings

It actually works when I reboot the computer in safe mode. So I tried disabling all startup programs, but the problem still came back as soon as I rebooted normally though, so it'\\s not any of the startup programs. I'\\m pretty much out of ideas.
not sure if this helps, but i thought it was weird. tried rebinding the key, this is what happens:

should be: '

default: \\'

if rebind it using the menu ': `'

if rebind it to \\: \\'

if rebind it to q: q'

if rebind to k: k'

just really strange, i think it has to be a synapse/driver issue.
It should working normally without any rebinds.

So in safe mode on some other PC it's working correctly?

I'd uninstall Synapse again, then remove all razer drivers/leftovers with this tool: https://rzr.to/Tf53xj

Then restart your PC, check if it's doing the same. If not - install Synapse as administrator, and check keyboard again.
Thank you for the response, I just tried those steps and it'\\s still not working. I only have one computer, so I haven'\\t tried it on another one yet. But if I restart this computer in safe mode, the keyboard works perfectly. I'\\ve been using this keyboard for about 5 years with no issues until now. Is there a way to download old drivers and try that out? I dont have the option to rollback driver, and I don'\\t see them for download anywhere
anyone have any ideas for me to try?
Synapse automatically installs the best drivers for your peripherals.

I'd check for some 3rd party apps causing this (or check GPU drivers for some hotkey settings and disable it).
I tried doing a clean boot where i disabled all services except microsoft and all startup programs. Then I tried a safe boot and neither worked. I tried a safe boot in the beginning and the keyboard worked fine, but not anymore. That rules out all 3rd party programs I think right? Or is there something else I need to do?
