I don't know if my headset is the problem or my computer but I am unable to use the microphone. I've done most of the things that have been recommended on google but my computer wont even recognize the headset. All the videos I've watched when they open the sound and go to play back and recording it will show the kraken headset but mine shows neither on both. I have updated everything that I could and restarted my computer but it wont pop up.
any suggestions?

Hey there! Thanks for posting your concern here. Are you referring to this model? The headset is an analog headset and will use the generic sound output and recording device on your computer. To utilize the headset, you need to install the 7.1 Surround Sound.
yes that is the model. i have managed to get the mic to work with the audio after installing 7.1 surround sound but my computer still doesn't recognize the headset when i check my playback and recording. thank you for your help

You're welcome! And yes, that is normal behavior. It will either use your computer generic audio drivers or the 7.1 device output driver so it can enable its surround sound feature. Feel free to send me a PM or visit our self-help options should you have other questions or
