kraken x lite microphone works when i listen to it via the sound tab, but cant use it in any other app???

ive got this headset literally yesterday and since then ive been trying to get the microphone working, with nothing working. the microphone itself works but i cant use it any other app besides listening to the audio it records using the sound program, is there anything that can solve this or am i left trying to fuck around until i find out
