Login on Synapse 3

So I just bought the Cynosa Chroma keyboard for a computer that I am in the process of building. I decided that until it is completed I would use it on my Surface 3. However, when I try to login to Synapse 3 to change the lighting after hitting the login button I am unable to type anything into the login or password boxes. The other buttons such as "forgot password?" work but I am unable to type anything. The keyboard works (as I am writing this using it) but I can't even use the on-screen keyboard to login to synapse 3. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Side note - I uninstalled Synapse 3 twice, uninstalled the keyboard driver and re-installed as well as updated the USB drivers which were already up to date.
