Subject: Razer Synapse 4 Bug — Unable to Reassign Mouse Buttons After October 28 Update

Hello Razer Support,

I am experiencing a problem with my Razer DeathAdder V2 X HyperSpeed after updating Razer Synapse 4 on October 28, 2026.

Synapse version: 4.0. [removed by moderator]

Two mouse buttons are affected:

* The side DPI button next to the left mouse button.
* The middle mouse button (mouse wheel click).

Both buttons are stuck on their default assignments. Whenever I try to assign a macro, a keyboard key, or any other action, Synapse automatically reverts the assignment to “Default.” I cannot save a different assignment.

I have already tried the following:

* Creating a new profile.
* Assigning keyboard keys instead of macros.
* Switching between 2.4 GHz wireless and Bluetooth modes.
* Restarting the computer.

None of these steps resolved the issue.

Everything worked correctly before October 28. The problem appeared suddenly on that date, so I suspect it may be a bug in the latest Synapse 4 update.

Could you please confirm whether this is a known issue and advise me on a workaround or let me know when a fix will be available?

Thank you for your help.

Best regards

Since it started right after the October 28 update and a new profile did not help, a clean reinstall of Synapse is worth trying, as leftover settings can keep the old assignments locked in. It may also help to test the mouse in wired mode if you can, to rule out a wireless profile sync issue. If the buttons still revert to default after that, sharing the exact Synapse build and whether the issue affects a second computer would help support confirm if this is a wider bug.

none of this has helped at all

This is a legit bug- new profile lets you remap those buttons - the min you map any other buttons it automatically reverts back to the default for those 2 buttons. This started immediately after the update on 10/28

The actions you suggested did not help, I will wait for a response from saport and the official bug fix.

Same here with my Razer Naga V2 Hyperspeed. Several of the sidebuttons does not work after the update. Hopefully they will fix this soon.

The same thing happens to me with my Viper V3 Pro. I had already assigned different buttons to specific functions, but after updating, everything kept resetting to default. Even when I selected the profile, it wouldn't work. However, I found a temporary workaround: link the profile to the games you want it to apply to. That's the only way I could get my custom button mappings and all my settings to work again.

Same thing happened to me i hope they fix this bug soon

I’m unable to access Synapse after the update. Hope the fix is soon!

My Button 4 did not work after the update.  Stopping all razer apps, uninstalling, rebooting then re-installing synapse fixed the issue for me.

Mine just flat out remaps them when I tab from the game i’m playing back to another window, then “shows” they’re back to being mapped like normal, but functionally set to default until I take off the thumb plate and snap it back on. 2 different iterations of naga/trinity and it’s still doing it. 2 different pc’s. It’s been happening since prior to that update on the 28th.

Also, it works if the application I’m using opens with the program active, but the moment you alt tab, it swaps to the default that I have set, and then wont switch back on its own. I’ve confirmed it is NOT my mouse, because I’ve tried it on my Naga V2 Pro, my Naga Trinity(older wired one) and a brand new Naga V3 Pro. Please fix your software. I love the devices, but real tired of the lack of testing with your software.
