Mouse Scroll Wheel Jumps Up and Down


I've been using Razer DeathAdder Essential mouse for couple of months and lately when I try to use scroll wheel it started to jump up and down. Its happening in all browsers and games. If I try to scroll down the direction in the application I am using at the time will jumps  up then 1 down (and vice versa) chaotically.

As per the razer support article for this issue I have done all the following to no avail -

  • Tested in another USB socket.
  • Checked the firmware.
  • Windows and nvidia driver are already upto date.
  • Used a hand blower that I use for blowing out dust from inside the PC, on the gaps between and around the wheel.
  • I dont run Synapse or any other Razor related bloatware in the background - its a mouse.

As an engineer, this to me ‘looks and feels’ like a sensor error on the mouse, I did post aanother thread for this issue but its not longer visible?!

Dude, i have the same problem. I thought my mouse just broken. Also have no idea why it happens

If scroll is jumping up/down, then scroll encoder is faulty.

Only replacement (requires soldering) will help. Unless you still have warranty - then RMA it.

Regarding replacing the sensor, where can I buy this from, or failing that, whats the part number so I can try and source it myself.

Regarding warranty, all razor mice have a 2yr warranty - https://www.razer.com/warranty. I just attempted to file an RMA and got told the Mouse is no longer under warranty, which Iis entirley incorrect! The mouse was purchased on Feb 2022, so I still have another 7 months left on it.

So spoke to the Razor shop in London, they reminded me of the link you can click on when the warranty search comes up correct and advised that I would be able to return the product to the original place of purchase.  I took the latter and they are just refunding me the original cost, so I will just go and buy another DA mini.

 

But back to the scroll-wheel sensor, this will happen again on the second mouse, so I would like to know where I can go and buy a replacement part from please.

Was this resolved? Oh man. I’m having the same issue. This is a premium mouse and would expect it to work the same. 4-months in and I’m having this issue. But I did already reported it to them though.


I’ve had this issue on 2 Naga Pro’s, both new in box (RMAd the first one).  I’m pretty disappointed with the nosedive in quality.

Ran across this post when I had a similar problem, and I thought I’d share a solution that I eventually found a Reddit post.  It as surprisingly simple and actually worked for me (don’t know why, but maybe it is black magic just like the replies to the post suggest...)

 

Anyhow, the solution: 

Get as close to the scroll wheel with your mouth as possible and blow as hard as you can into every nook around it. Compressed air didn't seem to work for me. I blew into my Viper v2 Pro pretty hard and after a couple breaths, this seemed to completely fix my issue. I am nearly 100% certain that there was no dust in there to begin with as my unit is pretty new which is why I'm convinced that this is black magic.

Just tried this on mine and it worked. Now my mouse scrolls normal lol. Guess it might just be magic 🤣

I just can’t believe it, with my last 100$ I had, I decided to buy a strong mouse that will work for many years, to my surprise that this Razer thing is just a fancy way to steal people’s money, three months and it starts stuttring up and down, and with light use!! Fu*ing scamers

Will not buy any Razer products again, and I am telling everyone I can what junk they are selling. I also have issues with mouse scrolling… but also have issues the keyboard. The keyboard will repeat leetters when I am typing ( as you can see ) and it is not just with one letter, it is random. I have even moved my repeat setting  to the lowest setting and it still repeats letter. Makes it hard when typping passwords. Very dissappointed with both products.

This is extremely disappointing.  I have a Basilisk Ultimate, which started having this issue after only about 2 years.  For an otherwise excellent and very much premium product, becoming unusable so quickly with what it obviously a design or manufacturing defect is pretty awful.

I am having the same issue with my Basilisk V2. 


For everyone with the scrolling problem. This video fixed it for me quick and easy. Take apart the mouse with a couple screws. Glue a part and it works as new.

Hope this helps out. I think this will work on most razer mouses.

“More rensponsive scrolling” - scrolling down, and it goes up for a while. GREAT FIX xD

If you already have disassembled mouse, buy for eg. TTC Gold Dustproof scroll encoder - it’s maybe $5 (ofc requires soldering).

Yeah. I have owned a lot of Nagas through the years but the new iterations always have that stupid Scroll wheel rubber banding issue. This needs to be fixed as I am seeing its not a NAGA issue but a razer mouse in general issue. I am not sure what changed but they need to either fix a solution or go back to how it was before.
